Dr Tanira Kingi is a member of the Te Arawa (Māori) people. He has a PhD in Agricultural Economics and Development from the Australian National University, a Master’s degree in Agricultural Systems Management (Massey) and his first degree in Agricultural Business was also from Massey University. He has written widely on Māori agriculture, focusing on multiple land ownership and organizational structures. He has been an advisor to local governments on land and economic development. His areas of research are: property rights, land tenure systems and agricultural development, and Indigenous development.
