Educational videos series
Our Educational Video Series aims to provide clear explanations of various international laws and principles and why they are important to Indigenous and local communities. Our first one is on intangible heritage and it features speakers in French and English with subtitles for the other language. We are in the process of making more: let us know if there is something in particular that you would like us to develop.
The videos are free for non-commercial use. If you use them, please take a moment to let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are able to make a donation, it would greatly assist us to produce further videos and other educational material.
1. Intangible cultural heritage law / Storytelling
According to UNESCO intangible heritage includes “oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, rituals, festive events, knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe or the knowledge and skills to produce traditional crafts.” In our video we explain what the international Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage is and what it means for communities, especially for the living tradition of storytelling. We have two speakers, one in English and one in French, with subtitles for the alternate language.
